The Cocktail Software

When licensing the Cocktail, licensees determine the specific geographic area that they wish to promote.

Some licensees prefer promotion of a single city, while others prefer marketing to an entire state, covering multiple cities. Of course, the more cities a Cocktail-powered website promotes, the more opportunity there is to drive traffic and sell advertisements. In this scenario, the Cocktail offers a unique feature that allows the licensee to use the software to divide the content of the site into city specific sub-domains.

For example, CarolinaNightlife.com licenses the Cocktail to promote nightlife within North Carolina and South Carolina, which features a handful of nightlife-rich cities. Users who are interested in Charlotte nightlife information view the website at Charlotte.CarolinaNightlife.com and users from Charleston view the website at Charleston.CarolinaNightlife.com. If you compare those two links, it is evident that the content changes to reflect a specific city, including business listings, photos, events, blog posts and even the advertisements. Another important feature is the global management of content, which allows licensees to designate content to appear regardless of the city.

At the top left corner of Cocktail-powered websites, there is an arrow that displays what city the website is currently featuring. At anytime, the user can change the city by clicking the arrow. As soon as a user selects a city, a cookie is generated within the user's browser, indicating a default preferred city sub-domain.
